The Power of Journaling.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Journaling is hands down one of the top 5 practices I recommend regularly to EVERYBODY to enhance your wellbeing on every level.

When it comes to journaling you don’t have to be a writer, you just need to be sincere and open to learning and discovering more about yourself.

Journaling is the practice and journey of writing down your thoughts, feelings and experiences for the purpose of self reflection and discovery.

I like to think of it as an adventure or like a board meeting with yourself.

Every time my pen hits the paper, I never quite know what is going to come out, but I am always grateful for the clarity and insight that I gain through the exercise.

Journaling for me has become a safe place to express myself. I firmly believe it has improved my self esteem and confidence, my intuition and trust for myself. I also think it has improved my relationships and how I communicate with others because I am no longer approaching conversations trying to work out my internal feelings because I’ve taken the time to sit and listen to myself first.

Research has also shown that writing things down has a powerful effect on rewiring the brain. Much in the same way as affirmations work, it gives us permission to build new neural pathways, and re-write our brains physically via neural plasticity. This then leads to new ways of thinking and new behavioural patterns.

So if you're doing it regularly and choosing and creating new ways of being and feeling, your life can really transform in BIG ways as these choices become habits which then become behaviours.

I think journaling works best as a daily practice. I give myself 15 minutes everyday just to check in with myself and see how I feel. I may even have to sit down again depending on how the day is going!

Now in the beginning you might feel some resistance to your new practice.

Your mind will probably create a lot of chatter and try to talk you out of doing any more. This is really normal because our minds perceive its role as keeping us safe, which also means keeping us in the familiar (no matter how harmful it might be) . If this comes up for you, please take it as a sign that things are changing, and keep at it.
